We founded Thousand with the goal of helping save 1000 lives by making helmets people want to wear. After all, a helmet can’t do its job if it’s hiding in your closet. The Chapter helmet utilizes an integrated dial fit system and adjustable nylon straps. The combination of the dual direction dial on the rear of the helmet and simple plastic cams on the straps make it easy to get a secure and comfortable fit. While we were a bit disappointed in the use of common nylon straps compared to the vegan leather used in the Heritage helmets, we found that this helmet felt much more secure than the Heritage. Thousand has utilized well positioned and plush removable foam pads which makes the Chapter comfortable enough for short or long rides. While this helmet features more aggressive venting, we did find that it’s still not a replacement for a typical road bike in terms of cooling. Replaced 333 helmets through our Crash Replacement policy. We’ve still got a ways to go before we reach our goal of helping to save 1000 lives, but we’re grateful for every replacement helmet we ship, knowing that someone was riding safely thanks to our helmet. The Heritage helmet has a retro vibe to it, like a 50s or 60s motorcycle helmet you'd expect to see paired with a shiny new Vespa scooter. It has a smooth, rounded shape, with a small lip for the visor and vents at the rear and on top. Unlike the large holes you get in many modern cycle helmets, the vents are barely noticeable at first glance.

Looks cool, doesn't look like the typical "alien" helmet, very comfortable, easily adjust to your head, love the magnetic chin strap and the great helmet bag that comes with it. Magnetic taillight works great but...... If you need an all-rounder, the Kask Sintesi helmet is suited to road, gravel and trail riders as well as commuters

More colors to choose from, flames or pin stripes would also be cool, magnetic taillights works great but the battery life drops the helmet to 4 stars. We wrote these ground rules into Thousand's DNA*, and they continue to guide every decision we make. One of our priorities for next year and beyond is to improve equity and inclusion at every level of our team.” The Thousand Chapter helmet utilizes premium color schemes and attention to detail along with modern elements like MIPS and a removable tail light. Thousand also includes a seatpost mount for the tail light that also has an integrated magnet and simple rubber strap design which allows it to be used on the bike besides the helmet and is included at no additional cost. We found that it worked well on both a seatpost or seat stay and felt secure. Our main issue with the tail light is the rather short runtime (1 hour on constant, and 2 hour on flash) which means it will need to be recharged often. Also, as with many tail lights on the market, there is no battery status indicator which means you don’t really know that battery charge state. Another thing we didn’t like is that the light stays on during charging which can be annoying if you’re plugging it to your laptop. THE VERDICT Despite not having huge vents, the helmet is pretty light, weighing in at 392g or 14oz. I almost forgot I was wearing it at times and sometimes ended up wearing it into the house before I realized. If you're cycling or scooting, especially on the road, it makes sense to wear a helmet. And if you want a helmet that looks modern and stylish, the Thousand Heritage is a great choice.Our values are kind of like our Google Maps… we turn to them to always make sure we’re on the right path.
